![]() ![]() some of the macosx applications are nice, integrated packages (weathercat, weathersnoop), but they are not extensible. davis' software is vantage-only, vis-reader is acurite-only, weather display is a rather haphazard accretion of features (sorry brian), virtual weather station is dated (sorry ed), wuhu has fallen behind, wview has stalled, wfrog has stalled. boris does fantastic things with meteobridge/hub, but that is not as general use as cumulus. The AcuRite 5-in-1 sensor is designed to be easy to install and use, without compromising any of the professional weather tracking features you want. On the other hand, cumulus probably provides the most elegant integrated system (i.e., with native graphic user interface) of any personal weather collection software. only weather display supports more hardware than weewx, and meteobridge/hub supports a few that weewx does not (we're working on that ) Weewx is pretty hard to beat if you want a bare-bones data collection system, or if you want easy database storage, or if you want to integrate with other systems, or if you want to get in there and customize things (at any level - hardware, collection, reporting, uploading). In fact, cumulus mx is more like weewx than previous versions of cumulus: it runs on platforms other than windows, and the 'engine' and display are now separate components. steve has done a magnificent job with cumulus, and it looks like he is doing good things with cumulus mx. The 5-in-1 Weather Sensor features wind speed and an anemometer, and send this data to your weather station or bridge every 18 seconds. ![]() I am most definitely *not* saying that cumulus sucks. ![]()
